Evelyn Stenzel, Pro-Life Speaker
Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves. Proverbs 31:8a
“I was unplanned, but I was not unwanted!” my mother exclaimed about her arrival into this world. Who could have known that this would become the impetus for Southside Pregnancy Center’s new ministry Equipped!? My mother began her life as a refugee, her parents’ fifteenth child, and lived in extreme poverty. Knowing how it felt to be extremely poor and looked down upon, became her motivation to reach out to others.
Seeing her example and being grateful for her life, I’ve always wanted to share the value of life. Although I could explain this from Scripture, I wanted to explain it from other angles also to reach those who don’t have a high regard for God and His Word.
During my year of training with the Colson Fellows Program (a program that uses the biblical worldview as its standard as it familiarizes students with other worldviews too), I participated in a webinar with Scott Klusendorf, a nationally known pro-life speaker. Then and in other presentations, he laid out how to logically, methodically, and thoroughly defend the unborn through biblical and secular reasoning. That was it! A flame was lit, and I knew I wanted to pursue this with all my heart!
After about a year and a half of researching pro-life resources and teaching several class sessions on this at my church, Veronica Studnicka, the Executive Director at Southside Pregnancy Center, asked me to meet with her. She asked what my pro-life goals were and how SPC could help me pursue them! My joy was uncontainable as I shared my three presentation topics–pro-life resources, objections to pro-life, and the impact of abortion–and we agreed that I would do this under SPC’s umbrella. But, of course, the titles needed to be fancied up:
- How to Be Pro-Life in a Pro-Abortion World: Diverse Pro-Life Resources
- SLEDding through Objections to Pro-Life (future topic)
- Think Abortion Doesn’t Impact You? Think Again! How Abortion Impacts Everyone (future topic)
Equipped! provides and equips people with:
- varied strategies and resources for learning about and defending the unborn
- understanding of what abortion is and its impact on the unborn, mothers, and others
- ways to support birth and adoptive parents and abortion survivors
- resources for bringing healing to post-abortive individuals
- means to share these things with others
By presenting God’s pro-life message to adults and children alike, it is my hope and prayer that people will come to respect life as God does and seek to preserve it.
